Delicatessen Grapes

Delicatessen. Bred by T.V. Munson in Denison, Texas. In a climate with hot days and warm nights, such as Texas, Kansas, and other areas of the midwest, growers report a veritable fruit cocktail of flavors from this blue-black grape. George Gale of Kansas speaks of raspberry and other flavors in Delicatessen wine in his area. In the Northwest, the vine produces fruit with pleasant but undistinguished flavors. The vine has moderate vigor and does best on relatively sandy but fertile soils. In most areas it should be pruned to canes, but it does seem to produce adequately when pruned to spurs on cordons. Ripens two or more weeks earlier than Concord.
